Military Chic

Zara jacket (similar here),
GAP thrifted blouse (last seen here),
Ronen Chen midi skirt (borrowed),
Elizabeth and James wedge booties
TJ Maxx clutch (similar here),
Vintage moon-shaped belt,
Vintage jeweled ring.

Keeping this short and sweet - hope you all are enjoying your holiday! I'm still basking in the warmth that it is Southern Texas but I'll be back in NY on Friday, just in time to unpack and re-pack for the Catskills where Lauren and I will be hanging with 10 of our closest friends to ring in the New Year.

What are your NYE plans?

Hey Chambray!

Joie oversized sweater (last seen here),
Chambray shirt from Pop, Brooklyn
AG Adriano Goldschmied Tights jeans
Ladder bar necklace (bday present) - same here
Sermoneta fingerless gloves,
Monoprix fringed bag,
Zara pumps (in black here).

First and foremost, happy holidays everyone!

These pics were taken at the end of last week, as we began to wind down from work and managed to find some time to visit our favorite restaurant, Maison Premiere, during its incredible $1 oyster happy hour. My closet benefitted greatly from my parents' visit to NYC, and this chambray shirt is one of my favorite new additions to my wardrobe. You might be starting to pick up on the fact that I can't get enough denim on denim...

Anyway, I'm currently writing this from the depths of New Hampshire, where I'll be spending Christmas bundled up drinking eggnog with my boyfriend's family. Micol on the other hand is in Texas with her family, sipping from her mom's homemade limoncello and catching up with her brother. How will you be spending the holidays?

Tweed-le Dee

Vintage embroidered sweater dress,
Nanette Lepore handbag (last seen here),
Elizabeth + James booties (similar here),

Remember when Lauren and I went winter coat hunting at Beacon's Closet and she found this beauty? I didn't find anything at Beacon's that day but did fall in love with a Limited Edition tweed coat on and as expected, Lauren and I have now done a total switcheroo.

We've both been getting ready for the upcoming holiday which, basically means drinking and eating up a storm, but also figuring out what to get our families. This year my family and I have decided to ask one another to donate to our favorite charity, non-profit or cause in lieu of exchanging gifts. Mine was an easy choice: I asked my parents and my brother to donate to Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue, the organization that saved my pup Gideon from a high kill shelter in Louisiana. I honestly can't think of anything I want more than to know that more pups this holiday season find their forever homes.

What's your favorite charity to donate to? Lauren and I may spend an inordinate amount of time losing ourselves to fashion and the fast pace environment that is New York, but we're always looking for more ways to help those around us.

A Feathered Affair

Warehouse layered feather skirt (borrowed),
La Di Da Dee printed tank,
Fafi x Adidas cropped leather jacket,
Bauble Bar chain wrap bracelet,
Simply Vera Wang booties (also seen here),
Ray ban classic wayfarers
Hue tights.

Is it just me, or is December the best month ever? Forget the cold weather, and all you're left with is a month full of holiday parties, office parties, NYE parties... and best of all, birthday parties (or at least in my case). Thanks to everyone for the sweet birthday wishes by the way!

On top of my birthday, my parents and sister were in town the past week, so it was only suitable to turn every day into a celebration. But the best night by far was on Friday (my actual birthday) the hungover remnants of which you saw in the previous post. I decided to pull out all the stops with my outfit that evening, opting for this gorgeous feathered skirt, an animal-print top (a souvenir from mom!), and my snakeskin RM bag to give my outfit a wild-child meets Giambattista Valli flair. I don't know about you, but I love the results.

My advice? Ditch the standard sequins this NYE and opt for feathers... you won't regret it.

Crimson Crush

Oversized blazer (also worn here),
River Island waffle knit cardigan (similar style here),
Banana Republic clutch,
Rebecca Taylor t-shirt,
Pendant and wrap bracelet c/o Wanderlust
Red waxed jeans c/o Big Star
Callie booties c/o 80%20.

Writing this post is admittedly kind of hard. We went out last night to celebrate Lauren's birthday at Bia, an amazing Vietnamese place we've mentioned on the blog before. Dinner turned to drinks and drinks turned into...more drinks. You know how it goes. It was a blast and I think we appropriately welcomed Lauren to 28 in style.

So it makes sense that Lauren chose super comfy and roomy knits to welcome the first day of her late 20s. First stop: bagels and Gatorade.

Brooklyn (Industries) Bash!

On Lauren: Warehouse (borrowed) lace-print blouse, Free People vegan leather pants
Banana Republic clutch (just seen here), Brooklyn Industries confetti beanie.

From top to bottom: 1. Lauren against the photo wall at the event; 2. The store starts to fill up; 3. Fellow bloggers Nicole Alyse (Running in Wedges) and Danielle Bernstein (We Wore What?) enjoying some holiday cocktails; 4. A few drinks in; 5. The full Marcy Stop duo: Micol (left) and Lauren (right); 6. A closeup of Lauren's accessories. Ps, how cool is this wallpaper?; 7. Lauren + Anthony, one half of the blogging duo from Closet Freaks; 8. Totally exhausted at the end of the night.

I think my favorite thing about the holidays are the parties. There's nothing better than enjoying cocktails with friends, listening to fun holiday music, and celebrating the end of a long year. Which is why when Brooklyn Industries asked us and a few other NYC based bloggers to join their holiday party last week, we were in from the start! Above are a few pics that Micol captured from the festive evening at their store in Chelsea.

I'm already looking forward to our next party... my BIRTHDAY! Which conveniently is tomorrow. Can't wait! Any big holiday parties you're looking forward to?

Winter Luxe

Jules Faux-Fur Scarf c/o Banana Republic,
Vintage coat from Beacon's closet
Long-sleeve tribal print dress (similar here),
Mossimo studded belt (similar here),
Jean-Michel Cazabat boots (last seen here),
Thrifted Banana Republic clutch,
Hue tights.

It's gotten cold outside folks! So with the winter chill at our backs both Lauren and I have been scavenging for new coats to keep us warm. Lauren picked up this beauty at one of our favorite go-tos, Beacon's Closet. I ended up picking up something similar from ASOS which, you'll probably see up on the blog shortly because we've already decided to do a swap.

Lauren is also rocking a faux-fur stole from... Banana Republic of all places! They've curated a special holiday collection inspired by the new Anna Karenina film (mental note: I need to go see it ASAP) and this scarf was one of our favorite pieces. It's perfect for layering to give any jacket just a little luxury oomph.

Fur Real

TOGA Pulla fur biker jacket
Studded sweater c/o Oasis (similar here),
AG Adriano Goldschmied denim leggings
14th and Union booties (love these ones here),
H and M oversized beanie (similar here),
Vintage clutch,
Holographic nail wraps c/o Jamberry.

The longtime readers of our blog might remember seeing this leather and fur moto jacket in a post last Spring, during my visit to the TOGA showroom in Paris. Well folks, dreams do come true: I was able to pre-order this piece! And finally, after a long wait of what seemed like decades, I received it on my doorstep earlier this month.

For those who've never heard of TOGA, it's a Japanese label founded by designer Yasuko Furuta in 1997. I first discovered them at Opening Ceremony a few years ago, but it wasn't until I had the opportunity to visit their showroom in Paris that I fully fell in love. The designer pays such exquisite sense to detail - whether in the draping of the fabrics, the pattern/fabric choices, or the construction of each piece - making every clothing item feel like it's made-to-order. I highly suggest you check it out.

As for me, don't be surprised if this jacket winds up in every one of our winter posts from here on out. Micol was already over the other day and making fun of me for wearing it around the house... but really, can you blame me?

Fair Isle Fancy

Max Studio scalloped dress,
Mossimo Shawl Cardigan
Free People Fairisle tights
Simply Vera Wang booties (last seen here),
Zara snood,
Chanel bag.

It's super hard for me to dress up in the winter. I don't know why, but the thought of putting on tights and a dress gives me goosebumps and it's all I can do not to run immediately for my sweats. Lauren doesn't have this problem. In fact, I don't think I've seen anyone who has more tights than this girl. She has every color and every pattern and wears them all with ease.

These latest, which she picked up from Free People are insane. Insanely awesome that is. On this night she paired them with a simple black dress, an oversized chunky knit and black ankle boots and managed to look super comfy and super chic all at once.

Lady Grey

Mossimo pleated maxi skirt
Xhilaration cable-knit sweater (similar here),
Brooklyn Industries wool hat (last seen here),
Vintage giraffe-print belt,
Forever 21 clutch (similar here),

Micol was a bit shocked when I wore this outfit to work one day. I must admit, it's not a look I would usually go for, but in the true spirit of fashion, I decided to experiment and try out something new. And in the end, I really like the result!

A long sweater layered over a simple maxi skirt (both great Target finds of mine) lend the look a lean silhouette, while standout accessories like a wide vintage belt and one of my new favorite winter hats dress it up a bit and add a lady-like feel. Before we shot this Micol was not necessarily on board, but after looking through the snaps we took, I'd like to think she had a change of heart...

Contrasts + Collars

Simply Vera Wang shearling jacket (similar here),
Rainbow contrast-collar blouse (same here),
BCBG cashmere vneck sweater,
Nikki Damask jeans c/o David Kahn
Fold-over clutch c/o Shoemint (last seen here),
Vintage flat-brow sunglasses (similar here),
ASOS studded boots (similar look here).

So Lauren and I both own these pants. Which means there have been several occasions when we've met up with each other after work, not knowing what the other was wearing, and there was a very real risk of one of us having *almost* worn them the same day as the other. I mean, this happens a lot.

On this day, we managed to yet again avoid looking like Parent Trap twins when Lauren came over to my place for a change to hang and play with my pup. My apartment isn't that fun for her because I am TV-less, a fact that bothers more people than it bothers me. Hello, internet? Thank you I will stream Homeland for free.

And yes, if you can read those street signs you now know where I live and can come find me and we'll grab a drink. I'm friendly like that.
