In the polka dots vs. stripes competition, stripes always come out on top for me. Having grown up just a short distance from the beach, I tend to gravitate towards all things nautical, and polka dots--when worn the wrong way--can sometimes come off as childish.
But when I saw this polka dot skirt hanging in Micol's closet, I knew it was time to give spots another chance. The volume of the skirt and its fuzzy texture make it such a fun addition to any outfit, so my biggest concern was how to craft a more mature look using this piece as a base.
I love the resulting look we came up with because it's fun and feminine, but not too girly-girly. The lightweight windbreaker gives the outfit more of a casual, street vibe, while the belt with gold hardware adds a little vintage edge.
So, where do you stand? Polka dots, or pass?
