I forgot how difficult having a blog in New York during winter actually is. This frigid weather is miserable!

But it's also kind of a fun challenge to head out in sub zero temperatures and try to figure out a way to look cute while also staying warm. My trick? Well, for one (sorry, PETA) fur. This new moto/fur jacket blend has become my go-to coverup this winter. It looks great with just about anything, and ensures that even if I'm wearing sweatpants and a tee underneath, I look moderately acceptable in public.

Another trick? Invest in great sweaters. This tunic-shaped, marled number from Brooklyn Industries is a great layering piece, and adds a fun dose of texture to any look.

Final trick: tights under pants. I'm telling you ladies, this one really works. No matter how you do it, stay warm out there!

Out with the Old

After a little time off from blogging, and a quick vacation upstate and away from the city, we're ready to enter 2013 with a bang! But it wouldn't feel proper to welcome the new year without recapping our year in 2012, which also happened to be the FIRST YEAR of our blog! Check out some of our fave memories below...

With a name like the Marcy Stop, which as many of your know refers to our subway stop in Brooklyn, we really tried to give a glimpse into our colorful neighborhood for people unfamiliar with the terrain.

We also explored neighborhoods farther afield, with a trip to Miami at the start of the year...

Followed by lucky Lauren heading to Paris for work to experience Paris Fashion Week in all its glory.

The warm weather came and went, and we desperately tried to capture the essence of summer in the city before the winter settled upon us.

Lauren also got to play badass once in awhile, busting out leather, fur, studs, and fun accessories to put together a few of our favorite rocker chic ensembles.

New York Fashion week rolled along, and we headed up to Lincoln Center to catch a few shows and revel in street fashion with the best of them.

We even had the chance to collaborate on a look book with one of our fave shoe brands, 80%20.

And most importantly, we tried to use 2012 and this blog to challenge ourselves and our creativity in ways we never thought imaginable. Working together this past year gave us the opportunity to not only push each other farther professionally, but to become closer as friends as well. Because what's life without your best friends by your side?

Cheers to 2013!
