Check It

Mango oversized check cropped sweater (similar here), Vintage shorts, Calzedonia polka dot tights, purse, Crystal Slice pendant c/o Only Child London,  Erickson Beamon Rocks ring, Lancaster Paris purse, River Island zip front boots. Shot by Isaac Lacey.

Does anything scream Autumn more than a bright red check print? I fell in love with this cropped wool sweater the second I saw it on ASOS, and knew it would be an awesome addition to my Fall wardrobe... perfect for wearing with high waisted jeans, skirts, or in this case, some drapey shorts layered over a fun pair of tights. I've been searching for polka dot tights for what feels like my entire life, and finally came upon the perfect pair in Milan at one of my favorite stores: Calzedonia. For those of you who don't live in Europe, Calzedonia is pretty much just a store devoted to tights and socks, aka heaven. Think Wolford but waaaaaaaay more playful and affordable. I could spend hours in there! Luckily Isaac dragged me out before I could do too much damage...

Anyway, can you believe it's almost the end of October?! Any big plans for Halloween? I'm thinking of going as a character from American Hustle... but we'll see how that goes.
Cheers and enjoy your weekend!

Leather Love

Is there anything better than Fall layering? Cozy sweaters, soft scarves, oversized jackets, creamy leathers.  As a California girl I never really understood how to layer until I came to NYC for college (I also think in high school I only wore open-toed shoes if you can believe it) and then it felt like a whole new world was revealed to me. Take this cognac leather trench, for example. I would have never had a need for it in LA, but now it's impossible for me to imagine living without. I only wish you could feel how buttery soft it is.

Admittedly, I still get a bit overzealous every Fall and splurge on an assortment of cold weather accessories and essentials. Even on my current trip through Italy (we just arrived in Bolzano for the wedding, which I can't believe takes place on Saturday!) I insisted that we make a stop at the Sermoneta store in Venice to see if I could pick up a pair of their colorful gloves. To my surprise, two of the friends I'm traveling with also walked out with pairs of their own: the quality of the leather and construction were too good to pass up! I can't wait to add them to my slowly growing collection of luxury leather goods back at home.

Texture + Tone

Forever 21 multi-patterned zippered sweater, Supemuse lace skirt (also seen here), Hue socks, Mossimo hat, Mini Crossbody bag c/o Kelsi Dagger BKOld Hollywood and Scosha rings, Jean-Michel Cazabat tweed booties (also seen here). Shot by Isaac Lacey.

Sweater weather has officially arrived, and to prep I've been searching for a few standout knits to add to my collection. If you can believe it, I found the one above at Forever 21, and was immediately drawn to its multi-colored weave, neutral tones and mixed textures that gave it a slight, colorblocked effect. Concentrating on its different textures, I decided to combine the knit with a lace skirt and some tweed heels and ankle socks, then played up the neutral tones in the look with a tan bag and hat. The result? One of my most favorite Fall looks to date.

Enough about clothes though, let's talk about life! If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen that I've taken off to Italy for the week, which means I'm currently writing this post from Verona, where we'll be staying for two days before heading to the Northern town of Bolzano for our friends' wedding this weekend. (What is it with me and weddings lately?) Needless to say, I can't wait to share some of my travel pics with you. We spent the day in Venice yesterday and got some beautiful shots, and I'm pretty sure overall I'm just 100% happier when in a foreign country.

Any big plans in your books this weekend?
