Rainy Day Grey

11.06.2014

ASOS slouch crop sweater, TJ Maxx maxi dress, Vera Wang shearling jacket (also seen here), Forever 21 choker (similar here), Vintage fringe crossbody bag (last seen here), Forever 21 combat boots (similar here). Shot by Isaac Lacey.

There's nothing less motivating when you're getting dressed than looking outside to see a grey, dreary, wet day. While some use it as an excuse to toss on wellies and an oversized sweater, I try and see it as an exercise in self-efficacy: taking an otherwise dire situation and improving upon it by having a little fun. Whether that means challenging myself to style one of my favorite summer maxi dresses for Fall, or just tossing on a bright lipstick shade, making an effort to elevate my outfit in the morning gives me the jumpstart I need to combat a colorless day.

What motivates your outfit decisions in the morning?
