Although I'm currently obsessed with this vintage cowboy hat I borrowed from a friend here in NYC, there's really no where else but Texas that would have made me feel 100% comfortable wearing it in public. Flashback to two weekends ago at the Houston rodeo, and you know I fit in like a charm! Nasty Gal was kind enough to reach out and let me pull a few pieces from their festival collection for the occasion... and I was surprised to find out that, when it comes down to it, a rodeo really isn't a far cry from a music festival. There's definitely a dress code of sorts that people unconsciously follow and we were even treated to a Brad Payne concert at the end (though I must admit I'm really not into country music at all).
As for what I wore, I tried to tap into my country side by layering up my favorite pieces from Nasty Gal with some fun, vintage & Southwestern-style accessories. A pair of leather shorts added the perfect edge to a look that might have otherwise read a little too Western for my liking, while this sweet little floral dress was perfect for our next afternoon spent soaking up the sun rays. Thanks for the good times, Texas! And for letting me bare a little leg after a long winter...
