When I was little I loved to raid my mom's closet with my sister and play dress up. Even if the heels and outfits were too big for us, or we had lipstick smudged all over our faces by the end, there was something about playing around in someone else's closet that sparked the imagination, stimulated our creativity and gave us a feeling of pure, unadulterated joy.

This shoot, lensed in Montauk during my quick weekend getaway at the beginning of this month, essentially stemmed from the same place. I raided Erica's suitcase and dug out this fun hat and moto jacket, both of which seemed to pair perfectly with the swimsuit and breezy pants I was already wearing to create a look that was equal parts festival, cowgirl and just plain fun. Shot in the dry dunes leading to the shore, one might imagine that we were in a desert somewhere, instead of only a few yards from the sandy beach. Personally, I'm loving the results! Not to mention, we had such a blast shooting.

Cheers to never being too old to play dress up!

It may be a short week for most of us, but it's still hump day: that day of all days that seems to tease you and drag on forever, requiring endless amounts of coffee and maybe even a stiff cocktail at the end of it all. It's that kind of day that has you scrolling through the photo album on your iphone, trying to remember all the fun you had during weekends prior, recalling your devotion to more fun days like Saturday and Sunday... all while avoiding the daunting pile of work that awaits your attention. On this particular type of day, an escape to two weekends ago to the sandy shores of Montauk seems more necessary than ever. A return to the feeling of the sand between your toes and the ocean breeze tangling your already messy hair.

So with that, cheers to the freakin' weekend! Try to remember it's not so far off after all.

All White Already

Rebecca Minkoff eyelet jumpsuit, Zinke bikini top, And Other Stories sunglasses.

Forget what ya heard when it comes to wearing white. Before Memorial Day, after Memorial Day... who cares? Winter whites are more a thing now than ever. But I must say, there's something that will always be crisp and fresh about rocking all whites when the sun is shining and the heat is turned up. So let's kick off this long weekend with those beachy vibes!

Meet Me at The Surf Lodge

Montauk conjures up so many amazing memories for me. From seaside weddings (two of my close friends were married there) and surfing at Ditch Plains, to late-night beach bonfires and sunset cocktails on the sand, it's pretty impossible not to fall in love with it all. Needless to say, this past weekend drove that emotion home for good.

These snaps were taken last Friday as we kicked off our 3-day getaway with an afternoon of beauty, pampering and good times at The Surf Lodge, hosted by Glossybox. From the moment we stepped onto the deck of the hotel the clouds seemed to burn away, drenching us in sunshine as we enjoyed fresh drinks by Montauk Juice Factory and Skinnygirl cocktails, hand massages by Rituals Cosmetics, hair touchups by Rusk, and even a mini fitness training session by workout guru Adam Rosante. It was the perfect way to launch into the weekend. My only regret? Not booking a room at The Surf Lodge. It's such a chill property... especially pre-Memorial Day weekend, when things tend to get a little crazy for the rest of the season. This weekend I'd like to think we brought our own batch of craziness. Cause who goes on a girlfriend getaway without getting turnt up a tad?

I'm back from my mini girlfriend getaway to Montauk and feeling more refreshed than ever (albeit, a a tad tired). Can't wait to share all my snaps with you! But until then, I wanted to post this casual weekend look which I wore to brunch the other day with my friend and fellow blogger, Cheralee. Although it was sunny as all hell out, there was still a slight breeze, so I layered up my favorite distressed shorts with this shaggy Free People jacket, a pair of suede boots, and a vintage beaded necklace for an easy-going, Southwestern vibe. When it comes to summer staples, you'd be surprised how far a great pair of distressed denim shorts will take you! There are so many ways to style them up, and with the weather warming up quickly I'm sure I'll be sharing plenty of them here. Until then, I've included a little guide below to some of my faves...
Have a great Monday!

There's something I've always loved about architecture. The lines, the shapes, the contours of a building and its interiors... Much like art, or even fashion in a sense, they have the ability to dazzle you, puzzle you, make you stop and think. That's why when I saw a snap of the interior of the new PATH terminal at the World Trade Center I immediately fell head-over-heels with its modern sheen. What a fun, crazy, futuristic setting! One rainy Sunday I convinced Isaac to come take a peek with me, and voila! This post was born. To go with the sleek, modern space I decided to put together probably my most minimalist look to date, and the rest is history.

Hole in One

My favorite thing about Spring & Summer is that we all finally get to show off a bit of skin... which means different things to different people, of course. Whether you're into plunging necklines, short-shorts, or even a little side boob, there are so many ways to accomplish this goal, and so many trends to help assist you in the process. I'm personally stocking up on laser-cut and sheer pieces, which are great for showing some skin but leaving the rest to the imagination. I also love the rich texture they lend an outfit, like this monochrome look I'm wearing above. This cutout skirt is equal parts ladylike, preppy and edgy, which makes it perfect for work or weekend-wear.
What are you stocking up on as the weather gets warmer?
