Times Square is not normally a place I would go to relax. It's more of a place that I'm forced to put up with every once in awhile, whether for client meetings or a random event; A place that I scurry through without making eye contact, trying to avoid bumping into tourists as they slowly bumble along between the packed sidewalks and neon lights. So when the CitizenM Times Square hotel offered me a complimentary stay for an evening, I must say, my curiosity got the best of me, and I didn't hesitate for a second to take them up on the 'challenge.'
To be smack in the heart of Times Square and to somehow be able to remove yourself from its insanity is a feat unto its own, and I must say I was shocked by the awesome haven that the hotel provided. This in part was intentional, a function of great design. Plentiful lounge areas, quirky outdoor spaces and a rooftop bar that sat like an oasis amidst its towering surroundings gave me just the experience of Times Square that I required after a long day at work: one from a distance. The rooms were the perfect combination of cozy and modern, furnished with a plush bed, a retracting blackout curtain and curated light and music options catered to your many moods, ranging from sexy (like the look above) to chill. After dressing up and grabbing a cocktail or two on the roof, I headed down to my room to toss on a fun bodysuit, pour myself a glass of wine, and catch up on some good reads. Overall, a great night 'in.'
Huge thanks to my fave photog Scott for stopping by to take some snaps! And for anyone planning a trip to NYC that wants to be smack in the middle of Manhattan, I highly recommend checking CitizenM out.
