Isaac and I are celebrating our six year anniversary today, so it seemed only fitting to share these snaps by photographer Emmy Park (check out her work on Insta here & here) that were taken for a couples streetstyle feature for Vogue Japan.
How six years went by so quickly, I have no idea. I was never a relationship person, to be honest. After a messy on-and-off relationship with a high school boyfriend that should have ended way before it actually did, I was left distrustful of men and pretty confident that there really was no good use for them other than a little diversion. Enter a slew of short term relationships and a lot of fun single nights out with my girls... and then I met Isaac one night at a little bar off the Bowery and slowly but surely my perspective began to change.
The best changes are the ones you don't even realize are happening at the time. Small things, like trust and self-confidence, began to grow inside of me. Sure, he was tall and handsome, with a cute smile and a witty sense of humor, but what I appreciated most was that he was upfront and honest with me about everything. Supportive. Caring. Totally refreshing.
To say I would not be where I am today without his support is an understatement. He's my partner in crime, my co-conspirator in life. Sure, neither one of us is perfect, but we accept one another's flaws and make a constant effort to improve and push each other to be better.
So on that note, Happy Anniversary babe. Thankful to be celebrating it with you.
