Summer has arrived in the city in all of its sweaty, humid, frizzy, sweltering glory... and I couldn't be more happy about it. Sure, it's disgusting out, the city is full of more stenches than ever (would it hurt some people to just use a little deodorant?) and it's almost impossible to have a good hair day. But what better excuse to enjoy life to its fullest, to get out of the city as much as possible on the weekends, toss on a no-fuss maxi dress, bbq with friends, down a few cold beers, stay out a little too late, get sweaty on a dance floor somewhere? Because if your clothes are going to be drenched anyway you sure as hell better have a good time while doing it.
These photos taken for Obey my last time in LA capture somewhat of that laissez-faire, easy-breezy, go-anywhere & do-anything vibe, which I would love to bottle up and sprinkle around when needed. Wouldn't it be great if all of life was this peaceful and at ease all of the time?
Instead we're coping with so much violence in our world... so much hatred, anger, disrespect, tragedy, mourning. It seems like wherever I look nothing is right anymore. Nothing is innocent, nothing is unaffected.
My heart goes out to all the victims, families & communities that have been shattered by all the recent tragedies that have taken place both in our nation and abroad. One day I hope we'll all find peace.
