One of my favorite parts of traveling (after experiencing another culture, getting a change of scenery and all the FOOD, of course) would have to be shopping! From stocking up on lil tchotchkes and artwork, to checking out cute boutiques and local designers, I'm all about discovering new and unique pieces that are not readily available stateside.
So when I was approached by the Tokyo-based brand Moussy to help fete the opening of their new flagship NYC store in Soho, I was super excited to say the least. I've long been a fan of Japanese style and curious about the country's up-and-coming designers, and this was the perfect chance to get to know a fun, international label and all its offerings, without the commitment and time that a trip to Tokyo would take. (Though, don't get me wrong, I'd love to go back there stat!)
At closer inspection, Moussy seems to be one of those young brands that has effortlessly won its cool-girl status over the course of the past decade. And really, all it took was for me to try on a few pairs of denim to see why. Influenced by menswear and vintage clothing, their pieces are all wardrobe essentials, but with more personality injected into them. Even the denim that I'm wearing above, which at a glimpse might seem like just a standard, light crop, has missing back pockets that lend a unique, vintage touch. Not to mention, the fit is truly perfect!
Unfortunately, their clothes are not yet available for purchase online, but if you're in NYC the store definitely looks like it's worth dropping into. And if you're distraught because you want to buy every single thing on the floor, just remind yourself how much money you're saving on a plane ticket to Tokyo in the end...
