This season's staples? Standout shades, super fluffy coats + a NY edge.
Bomber coat c/o Minkpink, Rick Owens long sleeve top, Vintage tiered skirt, Double buckle belt c/o The Lair, Oculuste sunglasses (sample), Marc Fisher booties. Hair by Kerastase. Shot by Cheralee Lyle.
Currently in the midst of an extended Thanksgiving break with my family in Los Angeles, but even just looking at these photos above makes me miss The Big Apple with all of my blackened, New York heart.
Not going to lie, it's been lovely to wake up to sunshine and Bay Cities every day, but at the end of it all, there's something so magical about the changing of seasons back East. The 'actual' need (in lieu of LA's perceived need) for layers, boots and cozy coats to wrap yourself up in as you step out into the city's hustle. How it's 100% possible that you'll leave your apartment in the early AM and not return home until past midnight, running from meetings, to work events, to the gym, to your next social obligation... the city having swept you into its folds and spat you out more alive than ever.
I shot the look above on one such busy day, gallivanting around town with my girl Cheralee. If my hair looks odd to you, it's because I actually had it done professionally (aka treated and blown out) for once thanks to Kerastase. (I just might have to go back and do it again.)
And while I'm all about the neutral earth tones in this look, the standout piece for me is really these Oculuste shades. I'm obsessed with the fun leopard print here, but the best part is I can swap out the frames, lenses, you name it, to create my own interchangeable shades any time I want. If you think it's as brilliant an idea as I do, you can support their kickstarter here. I love to help promote local, up-and-coming brands and these guys are definitely one to keep an eye on. Can't knock that NYC hustle!
